IAW SEMINAR PENANG - MALAYSIA - 20/11/2011
Seminar with Sifu Klaus Brand, Founder and GM of the IAW®

IAW's system is logical & practical (powerful). No esotericism or historical aesthetic (imitation) Forms & Programs are structured for Combat.
Learning to fight means solid practice, thus you will not find any DVDs to teach you WingChun. Multimedia may brings you some ideas but not practical experience.
About learning process: Precision and power may not be assimilated via words, pictures or videos, only structured and hard trainings bring results.
Anything soften, (for example, those common drills arranged with comfortable but atrophied attacks, or sticky hands moves) lead only to wrong decisions and interpretations.

Disambiguation Hard/Soft style; WingChun is a strong & flexible Martial Art. Softness has nothing to do with Fighting and promoting "economy of energy" is just another "twist of incompetence" from some lazy teachers, the same people who use the mystical word /transcending/ instead of /learning process/; it is in this "abstract vision" that misunderstandings occur and conceptual mistakes are set. Of course, the past 30 years of frenetic commercialization of Martial Arts also participated to its decay.
Those who join the IAW are individuals willing to fight and deal with collusions; it means, learning to defend again boxers or opponents who lead serious attacks.
If you are intersted in Self-Defense, feel free to join the next IAW Seminars or visit us in Penang.

Impression: Rediscovering the Art
What makes the IAW System so unique: Techniques, forms, sections; Similitude in /names/, but a huge difference in terms of /Functions/. The IAW Principles and Mottoes are far different from what is usually taught in "traditional Wing Chun". Self-Defense is the Essence of WingChun®
"Good code is its own best documentation. As you're about to add a comment, ask yourself,
"How can I improve the code so that this comment isn't needed?" (S. McConnell)
A genuine Master has the same approach (Ethic). Make the code efficient by itself , till the beginning.
Switching to the IAW was a decisive and radical overhaul of those debased but "well established precepts". Now, my students gain strength and confidence, we finish the classes with fulfillment, instead of question marks.
Special thanks to Sifu for his continuous effort, and my students who accepted the Reconstruction.
